Every time I read about the Rivera case, it strikes me how destructive gang influence can be, especially when it affects young people. I can't imagine the pain Rivera's family is going through, having their lives shattered in what seemed like an ordinary moment, just waiting for a bus. I keep thinking about the surveillance footage that helped catch Hermenegildo. For something so horrific, it feels like the community rallying together to assist in the investigation restores a bit of faith. It's a reminder of how vital our vigilance and cooperation are in bringing justice when faced with such senseless crimes. It's distressing that the motive remains a mystery, leaving so many questions unanswered for the grieving family. I hope they can find some peace as they move forward.

I've been following Mark Rivera and Angel Mireles's case, and I can't stop thinking about the courage Mark showed. It must have been an incredibly terrifying situation, and for him to rush to his son's aid without a second thought speaks volumes about his character. As a parent myself, I can't imagine the instinctive urge he must have felt to protect Angel, even in those frightening moments. It's unfathomable how one decision can lead to such senseless tragedy. My heart goes out to their family, who not only lost two beloved members but have to relive these moments during the trial and beyond. If anyone knows of ways we can support victims' families in dealing with such trauma, please share. It's so important for these families to know they are not alone.
