What's equally unsettling is the random nature in which she got caught up in this senseless tragedy. I’ve been thinking a lot about the broader impact on the community—Burien isn't that far from where I live, and it’s terrifying to realize how close to home these things can happen. I hope community leaders take this as a serious call to action against gang violence. Echoing what many others have been saying, there needs to be greater push for preventative measures, not just reactive ones. The families shouldn't have to fight alone to make lasting change happen. They deserve justice not just in court, but on the streets as well. Stay strong to those who knew Eveona and Elizabeth in these unbelievably tough times.
