I noticed the article about my quest to get Evitan's diploma... We finally did it!! March 2022 the law was signed into affect by the Governor. The law is named after Evitan as "Evita's Law" allowing families to request their High schoolers Diploma regardless of their High school credit amount.. We did it for Evitan, we Did it for other mother's, specifically of Homicide victims.

Incredible! Kudos to you for getting this done for other families. I can't even imagine what it's been like for you and your family. Even though I don't know you and I'm on the other side of the country, you and your children are in my prayers.

Evitan was an amazing young man, he thrived to do his best. I can only speak for myself and my children when I say, life without him has been empty. his little brother is growing strong and amazing unfortunately without his big brother here to torment, he likes skateboarding and music just like his big brother. his sister's are growing strong and amazing as well, unfortunately without their big brother to turn to for big brother stuff, probably like buying them snacks and stuff..... Me, I am thriving, barely, time always seems to be different, some days everything is well, and other days it's like chasing time trying to go back to the day to stop it, I don't think I have ever understood the movie butterfly effect more than I have over the years ... constantly finding myself trapped in time as if the universe challenges me to thrive in this world....

the house filled with memories of him, wishing he was here to get on my nerves, or to just give me a hug.... I have been through it the past 6 and a half years, the last thing I celebrated with Evitan was my birthday, every year is a challenge. If you want to help the family that RAISED Evitan and his youngest siblings please feel free to reach out to me... my profile here is temporary. I am currently trying to raise funds so we can move into a better home. you can email me at [email protected] or message me on facebook. My name was posted by SM...

one day I hope we do get some closure, or at the very least the young man made something of himself with his freedom by changing his life, given he got a second chance after taking my son's. I wish nothing but good to him and his life.

Has anyone heard about the candlelight vigil Evitan's family organized last week? I can't even begin to imagine the grief they're enduring, especially around the anniversary of such a terrible day. It's touching to see the community showing up and supporting them in these difficult times. I think these gatherings must be incredibly significant for the families, offering a moment of solace and solidarity. Has anyone from the area attended one of these vigils before? How can the rest of us, who want to help but are not local, show our support? It's so important that this case remains in the public eye until justice is served.

The candle light vigil's held are held by Evitan's father.. the community is not in support of his mother. she has no support.

It's been almost five years since Evitan and Deonte were taken from their loved ones, and it feels like we're still no closer to answers. Something that's been on my mind is the impact of time on memories in cases like these. I wonder if people in the community who might know something important have let minor details slip because they think they're not relevant or because it's been so long.
It's crucial for anyone with even the smallest piece of information to come forward. Sometimes seemingly insignificant observations can provide detectives with the clues they need to push the case forward. I can only imagine the pain Clysta, Michael, and Deonte's family continue to experience, waiting for answers. Hopefully, renewed public interest and community support can help jog memories or encourage someone to speak up.
I'm sending strength and compassion to both families and hope that the truth comes to light soon.

I'm not sure who you are, maybe you know me, maybe not. ... The pain as a mother is unbearable. coming up on the 7 year anniversary everyday feels like a battle with time as a single mother raising his siblings without support having to navigate maintaining, it is a battle. .. They arrested someone in 2019, at the time a 16 year old male. a phone call from the prosecutor to me stated " we are not going to file charges, He said it was self defense and we can not prove otherwise because it was raining and can not determine if evitan was running or if he was shot in his back due to a scuffle, the young man said evitan jumped out and that is how he got shot in the face" They let him go, they didn't have a weapon and probably will never have one, one key part of filing charges. However they have a confession from the young man stating HE was the one who shot Evitan IN SELF DEFENSE. however Evitan had NO WEAPONS on him. and the young man shot two people that night. Evitan was shot 3 times, according tot he coroner report, the shot to the face was NOT fatal, the shot to his Right leg was NOT fatal. However the shot to the back was..... according to the young mans testimony to police, the first show was to Evitan's face...... so I do wonder why he kept shooting him, I know my son, I also know myself, If I'm shot in the face, I'm running...... I write this because my membership here is temporary, and I want the truth out there somewhere.

Thank you for sharing your story. None of it makes sense to me either. I hope find peace. May God bless and keep you.

Anyone else puzzled by the lack of progress in the investigation of Evitan Debiaso and Deonte Mitchner's case? I've been following some cases in the Tacoma area, and this one has been so frustrating. It’s been almost 5 years, and I can't imagine how difficult it must be for their families, especially Evitan’s parents who have been so vocal and brave in their push for justice.
There were rumors circulating about what might've happened that day, but it's the silence from authorities that really gets to me. I keep thinking about Evitan's dad and how he described the impact on their family. I can’t even begin to understand that kind of loss.
If anyone has updates or knows about any community efforts to support their families, please share. They've held vigils and tried to keep the community engaged, but it seems like more pressure needs to be put on for updates. Surely, the families deserve some answers after all this time. Thoughts?
