Has anyone else been following the Andrea Nunez case from Kennewick? I've been thinking about the role that community programs could play in preventing these kinds of tragedies. It’s incredibly sad that Andrea’s family not only lost her in such a violent way but also her unborn child. ? I can't even begin to imagine what they're going through. The fact that gang involvement seems to be at the heart of this issue just underscores how critical it is to have resources in place for young people who might be heading down that path. I wonder if there are any programs in the Tri-Cities area specifically aimed at keeping teens out of gangs or redirecting their energy into more positive outlets. Does anyone here from that area know of initiatives that have been successful? This tragedy just shows how vital it is to address these issues before they escalate into something so final and irrevocable. Sending love and strength to Andrea’s loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time. ?
