Hi everyone,
I’ve been following the tragic case of Gloria Goeun Choi closely, and one thing that's been on my mind is the "no contact" order she had against William Rickman. It’s so distressing to think about how, even after obtaining this order, Rickman was still able to harass her. These orders are supposed to be a protective measure, yet it seems they often fall short in preventing further harm.
From what I’ve read, Gloria had reported to the police about Rickman placing a tracking device on her belongings and violating the order by continuing to contact her. It's just gut-wrenching to see how, despite taking the right legal steps, Gloria still didn’t receive the protection she desperately needed.
This makes me wonder about the effectiveness of such orders. Are there ways to make them more enforceable, or provide additional support to those who feel threatened? My heart goes out to Gloria’s family and friends, especially her young son, who will grow up without his mother. It's a devastating reminder of the real and present dangers of domestic violence.

That call represents a desperate plea for protection that sadly came too late. It makes me reflect on how many lives hang in the balance in those crucial moments and highlights the urgent need for a system that can act immediately on domestic violence threats. I can only imagine the heartache her family and friends must be experiencing, knowing she tried to prevent this tragedy. My thoughts are with them as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.?
