Hi everyone,
I’ve been following the deeply tragic case of Kymani Young, and my heart really goes out to his mother, Aubree, and everyone affected by this horrific event. It's so difficult to comprehend how such violence can erupt within a household. I’ve been thinking about how the community can come together in the aftermath of something so devastating when it comes to supporting survivors like Aubree.
I read that a GoFundMe was organized for Aubree's medical expenses and funeral costs. It makes me wonder if there are other ways neighborhoods or community groups can help by offering continuous emotional support or practical help, like meal deliveries or mobility assistance, given Aubree’s paralysis.
The strength of communities can be vital during times like this, and I’m curious if anyone has seen other initiatives set up to help her and others impacted. Does anyone have any experience with or ideas about forming networks of support in cases of domestic violence? We can’t change what happened, but it feels important to think about how to be there for those left to pick up the pieces.
Sending thoughts to all those affected, and hoping for healing and some form of peace for Aubree and her family.
Does anyone else find it chilling how there were no signs of struggle in the Young family's home? It just makes me think about the hidden nature of domestic violence and how things can seem so "normal" from the outside. It's unnerving to think about what Aubree could have been enduring in silence, and makes me wonder if there were any red flags in David's behavior that might've been overlooked by those around them. I can't even imagine the pain Aubree is facing now. It's so crucial that we stay alert and supportive to those around us, offering help when possible. My heart sincerely goes out to her and her family.
