I came across a fascinating yet disturbing detail while reading about the murder of Town Marshal James Cockrill. It’s so chilling to think about how someone in a position of authority, like a judge, could allegedly be involved in orchestrating a murder. Curt Jett's claim that a judge hired him to kill Cockrill really makes you wonder about the depth of corruption during that time. If true, it’s alarming to consider how someone sworn to uphold the law could be so deeply embedded in the violent feud. I feel for the Cockrill family and the entire community who were caught in the crossfire of such a turbulent period. It raises so many questions about justice and moral integrity back then. I can't imagine what it must have been like to live in a place where trust in the legal system was so uncertain. What are your thoughts on the implications of something like this happening in today’s world?
