I recently came across an article about the 1986 murders in Lexington, and my heart goes out to the families who were affected by this. It's so hard to imagine the sheer terror and pain the victims must have endured during such a senseless act of violence. Something that stands out to me is how drugs and alcohol played such a significant role in the actions of LaFonda Fay Foster and Tina Marie Powell. It really makes me think about the darker aspects of addiction and how it can drive people to commit unimaginable acts. It’s scary to realize how a night of substance abuse turned into a deadly spree that ended so many lives. Virginia Kearns and the other victims deserved so much better, and it’s difficult not to feel overwhelmed by the horror they experienced. I hope this terrible chapter serves as a reminder of the destructive power of addiction and the importance of supporting programs that aim to curb substance abuse. Sending love and strength to the victims’ friends and families who have been carrying this loss with them all these years.
