Is anyone else curious about why Robert thought driving to the old police station would stop them? I can't stop thinking about that part of the story. Where I grew up, everyone knew where our police station was, just like the back of our hand, even if you didn't deal directly with them. It's such a chilling reminder of how quickly things can escalate when someone's desperate and not thinking straight. It makes me wonder if the driver knew something was really wrong and panicked or just held onto hope that some kind of authority would intervene. My heart goes out to Donna's family and friends who have had to live with this nightmare. It's chilling to think of the fear they must have felt in those final moments, hoping to find safety and realizing it wasn't there. ??
I was reading about the tragic events in Harrodsburg back in '91 and came across a detail that truly made me pause. Donna Fitzgerald Daigneau was just going about her evening, simply trying to enjoy a night out with friends. Can you imagine driving down the road, and realizing that someone you once trusted was tailing you with the worst intentions? The fact that she and her friends made the decision to head toward what they thought was a police station is so poignant to me. They must have been terrified, thinking that they were about to find some safety there. It’s such a cruel twist of fate that the station had been moved. I can't imagine how helpless they must have felt, thinking they were just moments from safety when tragedy struck. My heart truly goes out to the families that were left behind to cope with such an immense tragedy. Has anyone else felt this way after learning more about this case?
