It’s been 11 years, and I still think about Richard Walker’s case from time to time. It’s so upsetting because he was just beginning to build his life. I grew up in Englewood and remember all too well the fear that settled over the neighborhood back in 2012. Richard’s death wasn’t just a personal tragedy; it symbolized the desperate need for change amid the constant violence we were all trying to survive. The lack of arrests or concrete leads just adds to the frustration. It must be incredibly difficult for his family to have no answers, no justice, and no peace after all these years. I just wish there was more that could be done to protect witnesses and encourage them to speak up. If anyone out there remembers anything or has any information, I hope they can muster the courage to come forward. We owe it to Richard and to all those who’ve lost their lives to keep pushing for a safer community.

It's truly devastating to think about Richard Walker's case and how it reflects the broader struggles people were facing in Chicago back then. Englewood is a neighborhood that has seen its share of tough times, and it’s upsetting that yet another life was lost due to the circumstances there. I can't help but wonder if the lack of economic opportunities plays a role in perpetuating this cycle of violence. I remember reading about so many young people who feel trapped with few options and no way out. It's heartbreaking for the families who have to live in fear and for those who lose their loved ones to senseless violence. I truly hope things have improved since then and that communities have found ways to heal and take back their neighborhoods. Sending thoughts of peace and strength to Richard’s family—no family should have to endure this.
