Did anyone notice the conflicting emotions around the "justified" decision in Ernie Hawkins' case? It's baffling and must be incredibly hard for his family to process. I keep wondering about the criteria used to determine when a shooting is justified. Taking someone's life is irreversible, and when you consider his legacy—a son who's lost his father and a mother who's lost her child—it adds layers to an already painful situation.
I can't help but think about his son, CJ. Growing up without a father is unimaginably difficult, and knowing the circumstances must deepen that difficulty. I truly hope that CJ has a strong support system among his siblings and extended family, given the close-knit description of the Hawkins family. Losing a family member in such a violent manner can create a ripple effect, impacting everyone connected to the victim.
Does anyone else have insight into the broader implications of declaring such cases justified? Seems like an area requiring more dialogue and perhaps policy reflection.
