I’ve been following the tragic case of Jaylin Hobbs and can’t help but think about the young lives in his family that were lost far too soon. It's truly a devastating pattern, and I’m particularly struck by the conflicting stories in Jaylin’s case. Deshawn Banks claims self-defense, yet the evidence doesn’t seem to support that he was threatened. What breaks my heart is to think about Jaylin struggling to escape without his inhaler. As someone with asthma, I can’t imagine how terrifying that must have been. My thoughts are with his family, who have suffered so much loss. I really hope this case brings attention to the need for more youth intervention programs in areas like West Louisville. It’s time for the community to rally together to prevent future tragedies and help young people find paths away from violence. What do you all think could be done to prevent tragedies like this in the future?
