I’ve been following the David Mackins case and can't stop thinking about the incredible impact on the Hickman community. I heard from a friend who lives nearby that David was really well-liked and known for always lending a hand to anyone in need. It’s so hard to fathom how something so horrible could happen to someone so kindhearted. I find it really unsettling that the crime happened in such a familiar place, Holley Court, a neighborhood where many of us have walked or driven by countless times. It's scary to think about the violence that unfolded there and how it shattered the peace and sense of security for everyone living in Hickman. My heart goes out to David’s family and friends, especially having to face this long legal process against Orlundo Holloway. There’s so much we don’t know yet about what led to this, but I truly hope justice will be served and that the community can find some way to heal and support one another. If anyone has updates on how the community is coming together or if there are ways to help David’s family, please share. It’s at times like this that we really need to stick together.
