I've been thinking a lot about the tragic passing of Paul R. "Cowboy" Sutton. It's so jarring because it reminds us how quickly life can change in just a split second. According to reports, he accidentally shot himself while unloading a pistol. I can't imagine the shock and panic that must have ensued in such a moment. Though the investigation ruled it an accident, I wonder if there's more that can be learned or shared about firearm safety to prevent such accidents in the future. It’s always tough to hear about these incidents happening to someone as beloved as Paul in the community. He was such an accomplished athlete and a respected figure in Henderson, leaving a hole in the hearts of those who knew him. My thoughts are with his family and friends who are undoubtedly still grappling with such a profound loss. Stay safe, everyone, and let’s cherish the people we care about while we can.
