I recently came across the sad case of Devin Swann and felt compelled to share some thoughts. It’s devastating to hear about the events that unfolded that evening at Victory Park. I can only imagine the fear and chaos among those innocent families and kids just trying to enjoy their night. The park was meant to be a safe haven for the community—a place for teens like Devin to hang out and play basketball, not a crime scene.
It’s troubling to think about how an illegal gun sale could go so wrong and lead to such a tragic outcome. This incident must be incredibly difficult for those in the area who have worked so hard to make the park a welcoming space. My heart goes out to Devin’s family and friends, who must carry such an unimaginable loss. Let’s hope for justice and continue working towards safer, gun-free spaces for all young people.

What's really been puzzling to me is why someone like Brandon Briceno, who was already involved in another violent incident on the same day, had access to firearms.
