Has anyone else been following the tragic case of Devonta Grisson? It really gets to me how the new year in 2013 started with such a devastating loss for his family and community. I’ve been looking into the Gage Park area and it seems like it’s been subjected to a lot of conflict and neglect over the years, which I’m sure only adds to the pain. A young life cut short like that, just 19 years old, feels so senseless and unfair. I wonder if there have been any recent efforts or programs in Chicago to tackle the root causes of this kind of violence, especially considering how 2013 was such a violent time. It seems like we hear these stories far too often, and I hope Devonta’s loved ones have found some support amidst such a difficult situation. If anyone has more insights or updates about community initiatives that have developed since then, I’d love to hear about them. It’s important to keep these conversations going.
