Has anyone else felt a sense of helplessness reading about the incredible number of young lives lost to gun violence in Chicago? David J. Kartzmark’s tragedy is yet another reminder of the deep-seated issues plaguing our communities. A young man with a whole life ahead of him, gone in the blink of an eye at just 25. It's hard not to think about his family and friends, and the void left in their lives with his untimely passing. The news said there were ten homicides just in the first week of 2013, and it's horrifying how this has become almost a norm for some neighborhoods. My thoughts are with David’s loved ones as they navigate this immense loss. How can we rally together to put pressure on leadership for effective change? It feels like we need a more significant push than what we're seeing now.
