I’ve been thinking a lot about Rickie Allen Felts and the devastating impact his murder has had on his family and community. It’s hard to imagine how those closest to him are coping, especially during memorial services when shared stories and memories bring both comfort and pain. The fact that a 14-year-old is involved in such a horrific crime deepens the grief—how does a community heal when faced with the loss of one of their own to senseless violence? And then, there’s the haunting question: what drives a kid to do something so terrible? My heart sincerely goes out to Rickie's wife, Karen, and his whole family. They should be focusing on the joy Rickie brought into their lives, not this immense tragedy. I hope they find some solace knowing that so many people are keeping them in their thoughts and prayers.
