I wanted to share something about Allen's case that hasn’t received much attention yet. It's been a year since his tragic passing, and despite the many discussions about seeking justice, I feel like there's an aspect we can't overlook—how this has impacted the kids at Noe Middle School. Allen seemed to be the kind of friend everyone needs, involved in sports, always ready with a laugh, and it’s clear his absence is profoundly felt among his peers. It's tough to imagine how his classmates are coping amidst the reminders of his lively personality and the basketball and football games he loved. It seems like a lot of pressure on young shoulders to process not just grief, but the reality of losing a friend in such a traumatic way. I genuinely hope there are support systems in place for these young ones, beyond just the initial counseling sessions, because the aftershock of such events can linger. Community healing is vital, and as we push for justice for Allen, let's not forget to support and nurture his friends who shared their young lives with him.
