I've been thinking a lot about how this must have impacted Kay's co-workers at the VA Clinic. Losing someone you work with every day is never easy, especially when they are as kind and nurturing as Kay was described. I can't help but imagine how her absence might have left a massive void for everyone she interacted with. It must have been incredibly difficult for her colleagues to process such a loss while also continuing their important work. I wonder if the clinic provided any support or counseling for the staff? In such a tight-knit community, I would hope they found a way to lean on each other during this trying time. If anyone has more information about how her work family coped, it would be comforting to know they received the help they needed.
