I’ve been following the discussion about the tragic events on December 1, 2019, and something that’s been on my mind is the incredibly difficult job the first responders had that day. The courage and composure they displayed in such a traumatic situation are truly commendable. Imagine finding yourself first on the scene and having to deal with such a devastating event. It’s important to remember the emotional toll this takes on the officers, EMTs, and all those who entered that heartbreaking scene.
I can’t even begin to understand how they managed to professionally navigate such a chaos while carrying the emotional weight of the situation. It takes such strength to do what they did, and I hope they have access to the support they need in processing this experience. My thoughts are with them, as well as with Kjersten’s family and friends.
I’ve been following the discussion on the Schladetzky case and wanted to share some thoughts about the incredible bravery demonstrated by the responding officers. In such chaos and danger, they managed to act swiftly by entering the area to retrieve William and Nelson from the front yard. While it’s truly distressing that their efforts couldn’t save the boys, the courage it must have taken to attempt that rescue amidst active gunfire shouldn't go unnoticed. I can only imagine how tough it was for them to face such a tragic scene and how the impacts of that day might linger with them. It’s easy to focus solely on the shock and sorrow of the events, but acknowledging the bravery of these first responders is equally important in understanding the full scope of what happened. My heart goes out to everyone touched by this tragedy—especially Kjersten's loved ones and the Minneapolis community trying to piece things together in this aftermath.
