I recently came across Sterling Race's story from the 1903 tragedy in Winfield. It's just so sad to think about the lives that were cut short during what should have been a joyful event. I can’t help but think about how Sterling must have felt in those moments—it brings it so much closer to home when you imagine yourself in that situation. And Twigg, clearly struggling with his mental health, made decisions that no one wishes upon their worst enemy. How do we address mental health issues more effectively to prevent such tragedies? My heart goes out to Sterling’s family, who had to endure such an immense loss. Has anyone heard more about how the families coped afterward or if there were any memorials held in their honor?
