I recently stumbled upon the story of Deputy Sheriff Thomas Simpson Fowler, and it got me thinking about the courage and resilience of law enforcement officers back in the early 1900s. Fowler was just doing his job, trying to keep the community safe, when he was murdered in such a senseless act. Have any of you ever wondered about the emotional toll this must have taken on his family and colleagues? I'm sure they were devastated, not just by his loss, but also by the manner in which he was taken from them. It's crazy to think about how differently crime was handled back then compared to now. The fact that Bowers was able to produce a gun even while being transported to jail raises so many questions about security and procedures from that time period. I'd love to hear what others think about how law enforcement has evolved over the past century, especially regarding officer safety during transports. Also, my heart goes out to Fowler's loved ones and the community he served. His bravery should be remembered.
