Hey everyone, I was just thinking about the neighbors who discovered the Clutter family after the tragic events that unfolded on November 15, 1959. It must have been devastating to stumble upon such a horrific scene, especially in a tight-knit community like Holcomb. Having to live with that traumatic memory seems unfathomable, and I wonder how it impacted them long-term. I can only imagine the shock and grief they must have felt and how it steered their sense of safety in their own homes.
Does anyone know if the community offered any counseling or support services back then for the neighbors and friends? It seems like something that would be crucial for healing, but I realize mental health resources were not as accessible as they are today. My thoughts are with everyone who was deeply affected by this brutal event, and I hope they eventually found peace.
