It's difficult to read about Andrew Smith's case and not feel an incredible sense of frustration for his family and loved ones. What puzzles me the most is the complete absence of his name in the Wichita Police Department's Cold Case listings. I mean, you'd think with no arrests or suspects ever identified, it would at least classify as an unsolved case worth revisiting. There doesn't even seem to be any public mention of an official investigation. Why wouldn't it be on their radar?
I can't help but wonder if there's something more to this that we don't know, or if it really was just an accident outside of criminal circumstances. To those who knew Andrew, I hope you find the answers you're looking for someday. It's definitely unsettling to see a life just go off the books like that. If anyone has thoughts or new info, please share.

I've been following Andrew Smith's case for a while now, and one thing that continues to puzzle me is why his name isn't on the Wichita Police Department's Cold Case Unit list. With no arrests or suspects, you would think it would warrant some attention, right? It's really strange, especially considering how young he was and that he seemed to have so much to live for with his family.
I keep thinking about his wife Melissa and their kids. They must be desperate for answers, and I can't imagine how difficult it must be to move forward without any closure. It just doesn't sit right with me that there seems to be so little information out there.
