I've been thinking a lot about how quickly a joyous occasion can turn into a nightmare. Stephon Egans, a kid with his whole life ahead of him, was out celebrating with friends, and now his family is facing an unimaginable loss. The fact that he wasn't graduating that month, yet was still surrounded by friends celebrating, speaks volumes about the community he had built around him. I keep wondering if things might've turned out differently if the situation had de-escalated before it even turned into an argument over money. It's a painful reminder of how insignificant disputes can spiral into something so tragic. My heart goes out to his family and friends, who now have to navigate their grief while waiting for justice. I'm hoping that someone with information feels compelled to come forward so his family can find even a small measure of peace.
