Has anyone considered the possibility that Virgil might have stumbled upon something or someone he shouldn't have while cutting firewood? The fact that his truck was found without any signs of a struggle but still abandoned raises red flags for me. I mean, it's entirely possible he could have seen something illicit happening or ran into someone in the middle of something sketchy. The ransom note adds another strange layer to all of this. It makes me wonder if it was a bluff or if someone genuinely wanted something in exchange. Such remote locations can sometimes attract shady activities, in my opinion. Thoughts?

Has anyone thought about the possibility of Virgil's truck being a decoy? The way it was found - just sitting there, keys inside, perfectly fine - almost seems too neat, doesn't it? I've been reading a lot about similar cases, and it seems like sometimes perpetrators leave a vehicle in an easy-to-find spot to throw off the search efforts. Especially in a place as remote and rugged as Deerhorn Road, it's a classic misdirection tactic. Maybe Virgil was taken away from the area entirely, and everyone’s focus on where the truck was found could have been part of a plan. With leads being scarce, it’s important to question every angle. Anyone else think this might be a consideration?
