It's concerning to see Demerio Jimenez's tragic death go as another grim reminder of what many face daily in areas like Humboldt Park. Having family nearby, I'm always worried about their safety. The cycle of violence seems never-ending, especially when it hits late at night, a time so many are just trying to get home safely. It's frustrating and sad to think of how this affects the families left behind, dealing with such unimaginable loss. The efforts by the police and community workers are commendable but clearly, there’s more to be done. We need to push for better economic opportunities and support systems in these neighborhoods to genuinely reduce this violence. Each life lost, like Demerio's, is one too many. Time for action and lasting change.
