I’ve been following the case of Felix Snipes, and I can’t stop thinking about how sports brought so many people together in Junction City, all cheering for the same young athletes. Felix, or “Flex” as many fondly called him, was a huge part of that community spirit. He was such a promising talent and a beacon of positivity for young athletes coming up behind him. I remember seeing his name pop up in local news when he'd make the all-state team, and I can only imagine the pride his family and friends felt every time he scored on the field. It’s just so senseless and frustrating to lose someone like him to violence. I hope the focus on his athletic abilities and community involvement doesn’t overshadow the very real person he was. All those who knew him must be going through unimaginable pain. I think it’s really important for us to ensure that justice is served while also keeping Felix’s memory alive in a way that celebrates everything he stood for. Does anyone know if there have been any community memorials or tributes held recently? It would be healing to see how the community continues to honor his legacy.
