I've been following Cory Atwater's case, and I keep thinking about the impact of unsolved murders on families and communities. It's so disheartening that Cory's family has yet to see justice for his senseless death. It must be unimaginably difficult to go through such a loss and feel like there's no resolution in sight. I'm also struck by how incidents like this one really bring to the forefront the broader issues within the neighborhood—like West Englewood's struggle with crime and lack of resources. When communities lose young people with so much potential, it feels like a double tragedy; it's not just about a life cut short, but also about a community losing hope. For the residents who live in these neighborhoods, what can be done to foster a culture of trust and cooperation with the police to solve these cases? It seems to me that building bridges between law enforcement and community members could help bring forward witnesses and close more of these unsolved murders. My thoughts are with Cory’s family and everyone affected by this tragic event.
