Thinking about the impact this tragedy must’ve had on Natayla’s and Mickayla's family and friends just makes me so incredibly sad. I can’t even imagine the depth of their grief, and it breaks my heart to think of what they’ve been through. It’s unfathomable to think about both lives being lost in such a violent manner. One thing that keeps coming back to my mind is the 911 call from Mickayla’s friend and coworker. Imagine being filled with such concern for someone you care about, only to have that worry confirmed in the worst possible way. I hope that friend is getting the support they need, too. Knowing that you did the right thing by checking in can be such a heavy burden when the outcome is this devastating. I wonder how the community has rallied together since then, given how connected people in such localities usually are. Must’ve been such a hard time for everyone who knew and loved Natayla and Mickayla. It’s stories like these that really remind us to cherish the people in our own lives. Sending love and strength to their family and friends, wherever they may be.
