Hey everyone, I've been following Elijah Davis's case for a while now, and something that's been on my mind is the issue of short-term rentals like Airbnb in neighborhoods that aren't zoned for them. It seems like such a huge oversight to allow properties to operate in violation of local zoning laws, potentially creating situations where these tragic incidents can occur. I feel for Elijah's family and friends; it's so frustrating to think that regulatory loopholes might have allowed this to happen at all. Vice Mayor Brandon Johnson's comments about the property's zoning issues made me wonder how many other places might be operating under the radar, and if there are any safety checks or regulations in place to protect the people who live nearby. It's definitely a conversation we need to keep having in our communities. Hoping for some justice soon and that anyone who knows something will step up and share what they can.
