I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact that Ashley's tragic death has had on her local community. It’s evident from everything I've read that she was a deeply loved person, not just by her family but by countless others whose lives she touched. Her infectious smile is mentioned often — it clearly left a mark on everyone she met. One aspect that sticks with me is how senseless violence affects the soul of a community. F.L. Schlagle High School alumni and residents of North 8th Street seem to carry this immense collective grief. I can't even begin to imagine how her family must be feeling, but I hope they find some peace and comfort in knowing how cherished Ashley was and how many people came together to seek justice for her. I'm curious if there have been any community efforts or events in her memory. It seems like an important way to honor her life and perhaps bring a bit of healing to those who continue to mourn her loss. Anyone know if initiatives like this have been discussed or started?
