Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about Brandon Torres and the struggles that neighborhoods like New City face every day. It's so distressing to see how violence has become almost a normal part of life for many families there. Trying to put myself in Brandon’s shoes, it’s terrifying to imagine being targeted while just sitting in a car, especially at just 21. I read that the crime scene was pretty chaotic, which isn't surprising given what so many areas deal with on a daily basis. It's like the community is trapped in a cycle of violence and fear, and it's disheartening to know that witnesses are too afraid to speak up. Can't say I blame them—who wouldn’t fear retaliation when it seems like there’s no guarantee of safety? It makes you wonder how we can really make a difference in these neighborhoods. There's got to be more that we can do to support the people living there in breaking this cycle. My heart goes out to Brandon’s family and everyone affected by this kind of senseless violence. What do you all think are the most effective ways to improve these communities and really cut down on the violence? Would love to hear more thoughts on how we might push for some change. Stay safe.
