Has anyone else been thinking about the role that social media played in Yamalith Arroyo's case? Seeing those threatening messages Marvin Lopez sent her on Facebook really resonated with me. It's terrifying to think that sometimes the signs are right in front of us, yet these platforms don't necessarily prevent a tragedy from occurring. I feel deeply for Yamalith and her loved ones—they must have been so worried when they saw those messages. What more could they have done? I'm glad justice is finally being served, with Lopez's conviction, but it raises questions about how online threats are handled. Does anyone else think there should be more tools or resources for people to get immediate help when they're threatened like this online? It haunts me how this could potentially prevent another tragedy.
