I’ve been thinking a lot about the unsolved murder of Gabriel Carlos Turner. What really bothers me is the randomness of the attack, especially considering Gabriel's background. He worked for 15 years as a janitor at the FBI headquarters—just think about how many people he positively impacted throughout the years just by showing up and doing his job. Many people seem to brush off how important these roles are, but Gabriel was a vital part of the team that kept things running smoothly. It upsets me that someone who dedicated so much of his life to service, and was clearly loved by his family and community, could be taken in such a senseless manner. It’s been so long without any leads or arrests; I keep wondering if there are witnesses who might have seen or heard something that could break this case open. For his mother's sake, and for everyone who knew him, I hope that whoever knows something finds the courage to come forward. I can’t imagine how distressing it must be to live without answers. Let's not let Gabriel become just another statistic; he mattered to so many people.
