I recently came across the case of Timothy Travis, and it just brings back all the feelings of frustration and sadness for this community. He was so young! It's such a stark reminder of how safe spaces are still desperately needed on the South Side. What really gets to me is thinking about his friends and family—being robbed of moments they should've had with him. This is another example of how the lack of adequate resources in these neighborhoods keeps feeding into this cycle of violence. We need ongoing support for community programs that focus on prevention and safety. I sincerely hope more awareness can lead to effective change and help for those coping with their loss.
