I’ve been really focused on the timeline of events in Malik Muhammad’s case, and I can’t help but feel for his family during such a turbulent and prolonged ordeal. From the time of the tragic incident in November 2018 to the arrest in April 2019, and finally the plea deal in June 2023, it must have felt like an eternity for them seeking justice. The fact that Reginald Turner’s arrest didn’t happen until almost five months after Malik's death adds another layer of distress for everyone who cared about Malik. It’s important to acknowledge the strain this process can put on people, especially when they need answers and closure. I hope they find some solace in knowing that there’s been a development that could bring them some semblance of peace when sentencing happens. With all the back and forth in legal matters, it makes you wonder how people cope waiting for justice to play out in cases like this. I really hope Malik’s family has a strong support system and can lean on each other through this. Their strength and resilience during such a drawn-out process are truly admirable.
