It’s incredibly distressing to hear about the tragic loss of Pierre “Peedy” Mercer, especially considering it occurred so close to Savoy Elementary School. I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been for the students and staff who witnessed or heard about the incident. Schools should be places of safety and learning, but now they've got this trauma associated with them. It leaves me wondering about the lasting impact such violence has on children and their sense of security. Has anyone heard if there were any initiatives taken by the school district or the community to support the kids and staff after this incident? It seems vital that they have access to counseling and resources to help process the trauma. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this senseless act.

Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the location of Pierre Mercer's murder and it's truly shocking to realize how close it happened to Savoy Elementary School. It’s deeply troubling to imagine kids or anyone else witnessing such violence that close to a place that should be a haven for learning and growth. I can't imagine what the families whose kids attend that school went through that day, worrying about their children's safety and the lasting effect of this incident on young minds. Given the close proximity, you would think there would be a high likelihood of someone having seen something that could help the case, whether it’s a passerby or someone from the school. It must be incredibly frustrating for Pierre’s family knowing that no arrests have been made yet. I really hope with time, more witnesses feel safe to come forward with any bit of information they might have. Has anyone else been thinking about the psychological impact on the community there? It’s just heartbreaking. Keeping Pierre’s family in my thoughts. Stay safe, everyone.
