It's truly devastating to read about yet another young life cut short due to gun violence in Chicago. David M. Hernandez, only 25 years old, had his life ahead of him. I can't help but think about the ripple effect this has on David’s family and friends, who will forever carry this loss with them. It's a pain that no family should have to endure. What's particularly concerning is how common this story is in neighborhoods like Gage Park. It seems like every few weeks there's another report of a shooting, and it's alarming how many of these involve young men like David, who become victims of circumstances far beyond their control. I hope community leaders and law enforcement can find new ways to work together to reduce these tragedies and honor victims by making meaningful changes. As ordinary citizens, perhaps there's a way we can contribute to solutions and support these communities too. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved David.
