Does anyone else find the circumstances around Randy Waldron’s encounters that night puzzling? It's so sad thinking about the situation he was in—camping by the tracks with Arnold Lehto, just trying to get by. It seems like he was caught up in an environment of fear and mistrust, especially after having been beaten up recently. I wonder if that fear played any part in making them more susceptible to Thompson's false reassurances. If you're living rough, with hardly any stability, any semblance of companionship might seem like something to cling to, even when the warning signs are there. My heart goes out to Randy’s loved ones; knowing he met someone as dangerous as Thompson in his vulnerable state must weigh heavily on them. It's a tragic example of how desperate circumstances can spiral into something so horrifically unexpected. RIP Randy.
