Has anyone looked into local sightings of Robert Gerard around the nearby parks or trails in Centralia? Given his health conditions and his determination not to go back to a nursing home, it's possible he sought refuge in a more natural setting. I know a lot of folks have checked the immediate areas, but perhaps broadening the search to include quieter or less populated spots might turn up something. Sometimes people with dementia are drawn to places that feel familiar or comforting, even if they don't consciously recognize them. Just a thought... Curious if any locals have noticed unusual activity or found any signs that someone might've been camping out in these areas around the time he went missing.
I was just reading more about the Robert Stanley Gerard case, and something I can't get past is how determined he was to stay out of the nursing home. It's absolutely understandable that with his dementia, there were concerns about his safety, but it also makes me wonder if his strong will led him to plan a methodical escape. The fact that he managed to climb over a fence at 93 is pretty surprising, especially considering his health issues. It makes me think he might have had a specific destination or objective in mind when he left. Maybe he had mentioned a place or a person he wanted to visit in conversations with friends or family? I'd be interested to know if anyone in his life noted anything like that, even offhand comments to neighbors or during family visits. If there was any hint of where he might have wanted to go, it could be crucial information. Anyone else have thoughts or info about this aspect?
