I was reading about the Route 91 Harvest Festival tragedy and came across Adrian Murfitt's story. It's incredibly saddening to think about how he went from enjoying his favorite event of the year, having fun at a music festival, to his untimely passing due to the actions of one person. What caught my attention was the selflessness and strength of his friend, Brian MacKinnon. Holding Adrian in his final moments must be beyond difficult to endure. I’ve been following this case for quite some time, and something that’s kept me up at night is the unthinkable position that Brian MacKinnon was put in that night. No friend should ever have to witness such a tragedy, let alone hold someone like Adrian as they passed. It’s unimaginable trauma. I can't help but wonder how Brian has been coping with all of this. I hope he has a strong support system around him and access to resources to help process what’s happened. All those involved that night have surely had their lives forever changed, and it’s important we remember the impact extends beyond just those who were injured or lost. Thoughts and prayers go out to Brian and anyone else who was close to Adrian.
