? Hey everyone,
I've been following the tragic events in Fallon back in 2018, and I just can't stop thinking about the witness accounts from that day. It must have been unbelievably frightening for those attending the service—one minute you're in a peaceful place of worship, and the next, chaos erupts. I read somewhere that when John Kelly O'Connor opened fire, the church members had to think on their feet, shouting instructions to each other to take cover. Can you imagine the bravery it took for some of the members to stay calm and help others amidst the chaos?
There's been a lot of talk about how the community came together after this tragedy, and it really underscores the strength and unity of the people there. My heart goes out to the children present that day. No one should have to experience something like that, let alone in a place they consider a sanctuary. It's reassuring to know that the community and the local authorities have provided counseling support over the years.
While I wasn't there, I truly hope that time has provided some healing for those affected. Bert Miller's sense of kindness and selflessness has clearly left an impression on so many. Let's keep supporting them by remembering the good people do and holding space for those who need it most.
I just can't shake the thought about how the kids who were at the sacrament meeting must be dealing with all of this. I mean, witnessing something so violent and sudden in what is supposed to be a place of peace and safety is unimaginable. Has anyone heard how the local schools and community are supporting these young people? I've read some about the grief counseling, but I wonder if there's anything more ongoing. Trauma like this can stick with someone for so long, especially for kids. My heart goes out to all those families, and I hope they have the support they need during such a rough time. If there's a way we can help, even from afar, it'd be great to know.
