I’ve been following María's case ever since it first caught my attention, and I keep coming back to the role of the smugglers involved. It's concerning how often we hear about these “coyotes” who are supposed to guide people safely but end up getting them into dangerous situations. From what I’ve read, the promises made by smugglers are often misleading, and I'm trying to understand how much responsibility they actually take once something goes wrong—like in María’s situation when she was left with just two bottles of water. Does anyone else think there's a chance authorities could track down the smuggler from her group? Maybe getting them to talk could provide some answers about where she might be or what truly happened that day. Any thoughts on how these smuggler operations work and are monitored would be appreciated.

Just read about María Tasej Gonon, the young woman who went missing trying to cross the border. It’s so unsettling how often we hear about these situations, yet it feels like not much is done to prevent them. What really stands out to me about her case is how vulnerable she was after losing her group. I mean, left behind with just two bottles of water in such harsh conditions? It's gut-wrenching. One can't help but wonder what protocol these smugglers follow, if any, when things go wrong. Crossing the desert is so perilous, and it seems these coyotes don’t have much concern for people's safety once they’re paid. We really need to push for better tracking and intervention systems for those attempting these dangerous journeys. Maybe pressure on authorities could help, but it's tough to even know where to start. Does anyone here have insights on what international organizations are doing to help migrants in these situations, or how we can support efforts to find María and others like her?
