Just finished reading about Pamela Jean Lambson's case, and something that's been nagging at me is the role of photography in Alcala's crimes. It really hits me how he used it as a tool to lure his victims. With Pam wanting to explore acting and singing, it's not hard to imagine how the offer of professional photos would have seemed like such a great opportunity to her. The fact that Alcala twisted such an innocent and creative process into something so sinister is deeply unsettling. Aside from everything else that's been discussed about the case, I keep thinking about how many young women might have been approached the same way. It makes me wonder what red flags might have been missed, or if there were any at all. Pam’s story is a reminder to always question situations that seem too good to be true, even more so back in the '70s when information wasn't as readily available. Sending thoughts to Pam's family and friends—what they’ve gone through can’t be easy. Let's hope these stories continue to raise awareness and protect others from similar fates.
