I was reading through the details of Christine Cashman's case and something really struck me about the location of the crime. Christine was murdered right in front of her own business—it's just so unsettling to think that a place she likely considered safe and familiar became the scene of such a tragic event. It makes you wonder about the psychological impact this case had on other local business owners and residents at the time. Knowing someone in the community was targeted in this way must have created a sense of fear and anxiety, not just for Christine’s loved ones but for the wider community as well. I'm sure it impacted the way people felt about doing something as routine as going into work each day.
Also, thinking of the family and friends who had to visit that area, possibly for years afterward, it must have been so difficult for them to walk past or even think of her business without that heavy feeling of loss resurfacing. I can’t imagine having to associate a place of familiarity and livelihood with such a tragic memory. I truly hope Christine's family and friends have found some peace over the years, and that Carlos Heard being charged gave them some measure of comfort in their pursuit of justice for Christine.
