I keep thinking about how Douglas Chambliss's death highlights such a tragic reality for the people living in the West Garfield Park area. The community has faced so much hardship, and Douglas's life, like so many others, was cut short due to senseless violence. It makes me wonder how many more lives need to be affected before significant changes take place. It's encouraging to know his friends and family are keeping his memory alive through candlelight vigils, but how do we go beyond these tributes to ensure things really change? It's deeply saddening to see areas of Chicago grappling with these challenges, even while other neighborhoods see improvements. Sending strength to Douglas’s loved ones and hoping for lasting peace in West Garfield Park.
