I've been following Monica Montoya's case closely, and something that's been on my mind is the system's failure to protect families from repeat offenders like Luis Lara. It's so frustrating and devastating to read about how Lara had a past domestic violence charge, yet he was still around to endanger those he was supposed to care for. I can't help but think that better intervention methods or follow-up on these cases could prevent such tragedies. Why wasn't more done after his arrest in 2007 to protect the family, especially knowing there were children involved? My heart truly goes out to those triplets who have lost their mother in such a senseless act. I hope this case prompts some real action to address the holes in how domestic violence situations are handled, both legally and socially. What do you guys think could be done to prevent future cases like this?
