I’ve been following Paige Pierce’s case and I can’t help but feel deeply for her family and loved ones. I’ve been thinking about the role and importance of bodycam footage in this situation. The decision not to charge the deputy surely must be a devastating blow to those who still have questions and are seeking clarity. I wonder if there’s a way to have public access to such evidence to foster more confidence in the conclusions drawn by the authorities. This case brings to mind the balance between privacy and the public’s right to understand actions taken by law enforcement. Does anyone else think releasing such footage could make a difference in future cases or even bring some solace to grieving families?
